Frequently Asked Questions

Engineering validation is the testing phase that confirms a design meets its functional, mechanical, and electrical requirements before it moves into volume production. Catching design issues at this stage is far less costly than discovering them after tooling and production have already started.

DFM is the practice of reviewing and adjusting a product’s design so it can be built efficiently, reliably, and at the lowest practical cost once it reaches manufacturing. SVTronics‘ engineering team reviews designs for manufacturability early, before a project moves into assembly, to reduce rework and cost overruns later.

NPI is the process of taking a product from design through prototyping and into its first production runs. Our engineering team can manage a customer’s project from concept through production, or work as an extension of an in-house engineering team, handling PCB layout, embedded firmware development, and prototype hardware assembly along the way.

Engineering validation testing (EVT) confirms an early prototype’s core functionality works as designed. Design validation testing (DVT) checks that a more refined design meets full performance, environmental, and reliability requirements. Production validation testing (PVT) confirms that units built on the actual production line meet those same standards before full-scale manufacturing begins.

Yes. Our mechanical engineering team provides prototype development and drawings, material and manufacturing specifications, chassis, enclosure, and panel solutions, and in-house 3D printing to prototype parts before they move into production.

Yes. Our engineering team can work independently or as an extension of a customer’s own engineering team, covering the full path from concept and prototyping through DFM review, validation testing, and handoff into full production.

Engineering services is the front end of the same process that flows into our Electronics Manufacturing and MAG Unit teams. A design that clears DFM review and validation testing moves directly into SMT or through-hole assembly, system integration, and, for defense and aerospace programs, MIL-standard compliance testing under the MAG Unit.
